Gone Fishin’ Opens New Location In Lakenan

By Marlana Smith

Gone Fishin’ owned by Randy Perrigo, opened a new location in Lakenan at the Old Mansur Threlkeld Store which is on the south side of the railroad tracks.

Gone Fishin’ started in 2017 in Shelbina at Salt River Outdoors. Perrigo said he decided to start Gone Fishin’ as he thought Shelby County needed a sporting goods store.

In September 2018, Perrigo made the decision to buy the building in Lakenan because he wanted to have his own place. With lots of work on the building and some help Perrigo officially opened at his new location at the beginning of March 2019.

Gone Fishin’ offers fishing and trapping supplies, live bait, Western Rivers and Nite Lite Head Lamps, Icotec game calls, ammo, pop-up blinds and ladder stands, and plotmaster sales and rentals. The live bait consists of shinners, goldfish, blue gill and bull heads. Perrigo said he also carries Sexton Brother Dog Food, lick tubs, chicken feed, t-posts and Red Brand barbed wire.

Perrigo said he has 110 fishing poles in stock.

Gone Fishin’ is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. An open house will be held the third weekend in July and there will be a fish fry.

Perrigo is hosting a fishing contest which is free to register for and starts May 4ththrough June 30th.  To sign up people must go to the store.
