JOAN RIFE
Dorothy Joan Rife, age 80, of LaBelle, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, in Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, Missouri. She was born July 6, 1937, in Lewis County, the daughter of Irvin and Edna Roberts Weitman.
She was united in marriage to Pat Hustead on April 29, 1958, and he preceded her in death on June 17, 1961. To this union two daughters were born Rhonda and Sondra. On September 19, 1980 she was united in marriage to Bob Rife and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1991. Joan was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald and Bill Weitman.
Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Hall of Kirksville, Missouri, and Sondra (Mike) Fulton of Williamstown, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Patty Weitman of LaBelle, Missouri; three grandchildren, Nathan Kurk and friend Sarah, Stephanie Hudnut, and Shelby Hall and friend Preston; six great-grandchildren, Shane Kurk, Brooklyn, Jaleigh and Laken Hudnut, Kinley Wood and Beckett Buckallew.
Joan graduated from LaBelle High School and graduated from Beauty School in Iowa and owned and operated the LaBelle Beauty Shop for twenty years. Joan was the owner and operator of Krueger Rife Florist in LaBelle for over thirty years. She also cooked and managed the LaBelle Senior Center for over forty-five years. Joan was a member of the LaBelle Christian Church and was active in the LaBelle Harvest Fest, LaBelle Depot Restoration, and the Farmer’s Market. She was a past 4-H leader and enjoyed cooking, crafts and gardening.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri, with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating for the services and musical selections will be Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art.. Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery with Robbie Walter, Butch Stewart, Mont Corbin, Owen Grove, Keith Tasco, Preston Buckallew and Butch Patrick serving as casket bearers, and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren serving as honorary casket bearers.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO.
