Tony L. Watson

Tony L. Watson, 55, of Kirksville, Missouri died Saturday evening, August, 30, 2014, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center at Kirksville, Missouri. The son of Roy and Margaret Purvis Watson, he was born June 23, 1959 in Compton, California.

He attended school at Canton, Illinois and graduated with the class of 1977. After high school he went to work at different jobs a Canton, to name a few was International Harvester Implement Company, Canton Auto Parts in the sales and stocking departments along with working at a tree nursery helping with the planting, mulching as well as the sales and delivery of merchandise. After they moved to this area he helped on the Watson family farm and later moved to Kirksville where he resided until his passing.

He enjoyed visiting and doing things with his friends and family. Tony was an outdoors man and loved to fish and hunt whenever he could. He enjoyed animals as well owning a dog most of his life until where he lived did not allow animals.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his aunt Joni Beasley along with other relatives.

Leaving to mourn his passing is his son, Matthew Watson (Heidi) and their children, Chloie Goodman, Tyler Luopa and Kadie Watson of Murfreesboro, TN; his parents, Roy and Margaret Watson of rural Memphis, MO; two brothers, Terry Watson (Debbie) of Canton, IL and Jeff Watson of Canton, IL, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the family for their discretion and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St. Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating.  Interment followed in the Memphis Cemetery East of Memphis.

Pallbearers were Larry and Rick Purvis, John Huggins, David, Daniel, and Stephen Watson.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
