McCarroll Named MIAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

KANSAS CITY - - Truman State University senior thrower Rachel McCarroll was named the MIAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her performance last Saturday at the Monmouth (Ill.) College Fighting Scot Indoor Invitational.

McCarroll set a new school record in the weight throw as the Bulldog Track & Field team won five events Saturday. McCarroll broke Ashley Colon’s 2007 record with a throw of 58-08.50. The mark bettered McCarroll’s previous high by seven inches and increased her NCAA provisional mark, moving her up to 13th on the Division II performance list as she finished second in the event. The thrower is a native of Lawson, Mo. where she competed at Excelsior Springs High School.

The Track & Field teams return to action this Friday at the University of Missouri Collegiate Challenge in Columbia.
