Violet June Shea, age 80, of Newark, Missouri, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Newark, Missouri.
She was born September 24, 1930, at Casey, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Lillian Pottroff Theurer.
She was united in marriage to Eugene Nicholas Shea in 1951 at Atlantic, Iowa and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son Douglas Paul Shea, one stepbrother and two stepsisters.
Surviving are four children, Michael Eugene Shea and wife Linda of Atlantic, Iowa, Richard Gerald Shea and fiancée Barbara of Tucson, Arizona, Leisa Ann Long and husband Leonard of Newark, Missouri, and Connie June Howard of St. Louis, Michigan, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Violet received her education at Casey, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1948. She was a housewife and homemaker. She raised her family in Atlantic, Iowa and Anaheim, California. While in California she worked eighteen years for Fenwick Fishing Rod Manufacturing. She moved back to Iowa in 1986 and moved to Missouri in 1993. She was employed for several years during the summer with BP in Lancaster, Missouri. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Jesse Rogers officiated the services. Burial was in the Newark Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Tom West, Randy West, Scott West, Anthony Shaffer, Bill Shaffer and Rick Bowman.
Visitation was held Saturday, December 18, 2010, with family receiving friends from 12 noon until time of services at 2 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
