JOE H. MOYER

Joe Hershel Moyer, age 94, of rural Novelty, Missouri, died Friday, July 25, 2008, in the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Joe was born August 4, 1913, on a homestead near Wildwood, Canada, the son of Joe Lewellyn and Dora Kephart Moyer.
In 1915 the Moyer family moved from Canada to the Rye Creek area west of Kirksville, Missouri. He attended Novinger and Connelsville schools.
Mr. Moyer worked in the family coal mine before becoming engaged in farming in the Brashear and Bee Ridge communities.
On March 5, 1938, at Brashear, Missouri he was united in marriage to Cleta Aileen Powell who preceded him in death on September 1, 1999. After their marriage they were engaged in farming in the Novelty area.
Mr. Moyer is survived by a son, Joe Allen Moyer and wife Louise of Hurdland, Missouri, a granddaughter Lynnette McGuire and husband Vince of Elsberry, Missouri, two great grandchildren, Aaron and Caitlyn McGuire, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a great grandson, two brothers Kenneth and Basil and a sister Berniece Pinson.
Mr. Moyer was a member of the Mote and Novelty school boards. He was also a member of the Locust Hill Community Church.
Joe enjoyed farming, traveling, hunting, fishing and visiting with family and friends.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2008, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Officiating the services was Reverend Reese Blaine and Reverend Bill Gaines. Burial was at the Locust Hill Cemetery in Novelty, Missouri. Music was provided by Mary Jane Hamlin, organist and Bill Gaines, soloist. Casket bearers were Leland Moyer, Billy Joe Wilkerson, Jeff Smith, Gerald Perry, Dennis Bradley and Gary Kaser.
