The Rollin’ on the River Committee Announces Lineup

The Rollin’ on the River Committee is proud to announce its lineup for the 21^st Annual Rollin’ on the River Blues Festival in Keokuk, IA. Starting off this year’s festivities on Friday, August 14 will be local musician William Elliott Whitmore who is currently touring in promotion of the recent release of his seventh studio album on Southern Records. The Avey Brothers, winners of the 2008 and 2009 Iowa Blues Challenge, will follow Whitmore. The headliner for Friday night will be The Scott Holt Band. Holt, who serves as lead guitar player for the band, is a self-proclaimed disciple of Buddy Guy.

The Beaker Brothers, who hail from Iowa City and have performed recently in Keokuk, will return to open the festival on Saturday, August 15. The Blues Explosion, which consists of eight teenagers formed by the Omaha Blues Society, is scheduled to play second. Michigan based Motor City Josh and the Big 3, will follow and bring their unique sound of funky blues. Saturday’s headliner is Bernard Allison. Bernard, who is the son of blues great Luther Allison, will be bringing his 17 years of recording experience to the stage to round out the evening.
