Lorraine H. Gargus

Lorraine H. Gargus, 81 of rural Kahoka, died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.

She was born March 14, 1928 in Black Walnut, Missouri the daughter of Harry and Addie Hellemeyer Schmidt.On May 25, 1950 she was united in marriage to James Edward Gargus in Missouri.He preceded her in death on January 31, 2010.

Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, doing needlepoint and cooking.She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens.

She is survived by two sons, Lee Hickman of Arkansas, and Larry Hickman of Alton, IL, two daughters, Carol Foley and her husband Bill of Topeka, KS and Linda Gargus of Keokuk, IA, eight grandchildren, James Foley, Mandy Kirtley, Cindy Hickman, Sylvia Wenger, Denise Sparks, Tammy Willing, Gene Hickman andRoger Pruitt, eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by three children infancy and a daughter Karen Magliocca.

Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m., Monday at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.

Visitation will be held from 11:00a.m. – 2:00 p..m. Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO.
