Mary Eunice McReynolds

 

Mary Eunice McReynolds, 93, of Canton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
She was born on October 24, 1923 in Ewing, Missouri, the daughter of Alex and Alpha Day Stephenson.  Mary Eunice married Billy Hall McReynolds on August 25, 1945 at the Canton Christian Church.  He preceded her in death on October 19, 1980.
Mary Eunice graduated from Culver Stockton College in 1945; finished her Master’s Degree from Western Illinois University before starting her career as Associate Professor of Business Administration and Economics at Culver Stockton College.  She was Dean of Women in the early 70’s and served on several counsels at the college.  She was also the proud co-owner of Bill’s Superette with her husband during the early years of their marriage.
She was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton.  While in college, she was the founding President of the Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta at Culver Stockton College.  She was also a member of Canton Civic Club, Daughters of the American Revolution (Past Regent), Hannibal Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Canton AAUW, plus many other memberships and honors throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilee (John) Kay of Scottsdale, Arizona; three sons, Joe McReynolds of LaBelle, Missouri, Jay (Pat) McReynolds of Montgomery, Texas, and Jeff (Karla) McReynolds of Canton, Missouri.  Mary Eunice is the aunt to eight nieces and nephews.  A very proud grandmother (Mema) to fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mary Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Andrea Kay, brother, James Stephenson and a sister, Omega Hamlin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 11:00 AM at Arnold’s Funeral Home in Canton, Missouri with Rev. Mark Boster and Rev. Harry Cooper officiating.  Burial will be in the Forest Grove Cemetery.
