Macon Police Department News

On 10/18/15, police arrested three men on drug related violations as a result of a traffic stop.  Police arrested an 18-year old white male driver, of Firth (NE),  for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and vehicle equipment violation.  Police also arrested a 19-year old white male of Trimble (MO) and a 20-year old white male of Columbia (MO) for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  All three suspects were processed at the Macon Police Department and later released on summons pending a Division II Court appearance.

On 10/19/15, a Macon Police Officer investigated a report of shoplifting at a local business in the 700 block of East Briggs Drive.  As a result, police identified the suspect who was later arrested for the incident.  Police arrested a 50-year old white male of Macon for stealing.  He was processed at the Macon Police Department and was later released on summons pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On 10/20/15, a Macon Police Officer investigated a report of shoplifting at a local business in the 900 block of East Briggs Drive.  As a result, police identified the suspect who was later arrested for the incident.  Police arrested a 43-year old black male of Macon for stealing.  He was processed at the Macon Police Department and was later released on summons pending a Municipal Court appearance.

On 10/21/15, an officer of the Macon Police Department made enforcement contact with a vehicle on Highway 36.  During the contact, police utilized the Macon Police Department’s K-9 unit for an exterior sniff of the vehicle.  The K-9 did alert to potential illegal substances within the vehicle. An interior search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of marijuana, bottles labeled “THC Syrup” and an item appearing to be marijuana wax.  Due to the type of packaging and the male subject stating he had traveled through several states prior to being stopped in Macon, police arrested a 27-year old white male of Baltimore (MD) for trafficking drugs in the first degree, class A felony.  He was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later taken to the Macon County Jail where he was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges.  Police applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Thomas A. Palmerino with bond being set at $100,000.00 cash only bond.  According to Chief Steve Olinger, “this arrest was made due to the watchful eye of the officer who noticed several cues to indicate potential drug trafficking situation in combination with the utilization of the department’s K-9 unit.  Our department seized 35 packages of marijuana weighing approximately 39lbs in total, 199 bottles labeled “THC Syrup”, two plastic containers appearing to be marijuana wax weighing approximately 136 grams and other items of evidentiary value.  All items will be sent to the Highway Patrol Lab for testing.”

On 10/27/15, officers of the Macon Police Department were alerted to a male subject attempting to obtain a controlled substance at a local business while using the identification of another party.  Officers responded to the call to investigate.  As a result, police arrested a 45-year old black male of Miami (FL)  for fraudulent attempt to obtain a controlled substance and a 48-year old black female, also of Miami (FL), for possession of controlled substance.  Both suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Macon Police Department for processing.  They were later taken to the Macon County Jail where they were placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges.  Police applied for and obtained arrest warrants for Jerome Thomas for fraudulent attempt of controlled substance with bond set at $4,500.00 cash only and Sabrina D. Washington for possession of controlled substance with bond set at $9,000.00 cash only.

On 10/28/15, Macon Police Officers responded to a report of an assault in progress in the 500 block of Maple Lane.  Upon arrival, police found several people outside of a residence apparently involved in a dispute and trying to calm the situation.  It was determined that a male suspect had become irate and assaulted a female subject who required medical attention.  Macon County EMS was called to the scene to assist.  The female victim was transported by ambulance for treatment.  Police arrested the male suspect, a 19-year old white male of Macon, for domestic assault.  He was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later placed on 24-hour hold at the Macon County Jail pending formal charges.  Officers applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Trenton D. Ewing for domestic assault in the second degree and peace disturbance with bond being set at $10,000.00 cash only.
