Macon Police Department News

On 08/16/15, a Macon Police Officer made enforcement contact with a vehicle on Highway 63 at the National Guard Road. As a result of the contact, police arrested an 18-year old white female of Columbia (MO) for driving without a valid license. She was released on summons pending a municipal court date.

On 08/16/15, A Macon Police Officer made enforcement contact with a vehicle in the area of Spruce and Missouri Streets. As a result, police arrested a 26-year old white male of Brookfield (MO) for driving without a valid license. The suspect was released on summons pending a municipal court date.

On 08/17/15, a victim reported to the Macon Police Department their vehicle was damaged while parked unattended in a business parking lot in Macon on 08/15/15. Damage was estimated at $1,800.00. This case remains under investigation at this time.

On 08/17/15, a Macon Police Officer made enforcement contact with a vehicle at the intersection of Pearl & Bourke Streets. As a result of the contact, police arrested a 55-year old white female of Macon for driving while license suspended. She was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released on summons pending a municipal court date.

On 08/18/15, police responded to a report of a domestic assault occurring in the 1100 block of Holly Circle. Upon arrival, police made contact with a female victim reporting she was assaulted by a male suspect who left the area. The female gave full description of the male suspect who was later located and questioned about the incident. As a result, police arrested a 20year old white male suspect for domestic assault. He was processed at the Macon Police Department and later released on summons pending a Division II court date.

On 08/20/15, officers of the Macon Police Department responded to a disturbance in the downtown area. Police made contact with several persons reporting a male suspect attempting to fight others while in the downtown area. Police patrolled the area observing what appeared to be a disturbance in the 300 block of West Bourke. Police made enforcement contact with the group and learned of possible victim’s entering a nearby business. Contact was made with two female subjects who reported to police they were assaulted by a male suspect which they described to officers. The male suspect was located in the area and detained pending the investigation. Police then placed the male suspect under arrest for two counts of assault. The male suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later taken to the Macon County Jail where he was placed on 24-hour hold. Officers applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Austin J Dawson, 27-year old white male of Macon, for two counts of assault 3rd degree with bond being set at $2,500 cash only. Dawson remains in custody at this time.

On 08/21/15, the Macon Police Department responded to a report of a robbery occurring in a business parking lot near Rubey and Union Streets. Police responded to the call making contact with a female victim reporting an unknown white male suspect had stolen her wallet as she was walking in the area. The female gave police a description of a young adult white male suspect wearing white shorts who approached her, grabbed her billfold when a short struggle ensued. The victim lost grip and the male suspect took the wallet and fled the area on foot. Police conducted a full neighborhood canvass and was able to recover the victim’s wallet in a nearby alleyway. An undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen. Police continued to search for the white male suspect with negative results. This case remains under investigation. On 08/23/15, a victim reported a theft occurred in the 211 block of North Allen Street. The victim reported a household appliance was loaded on a trailer outside of their residence due to moving preparations. The victim discovered that the item, a household stove, had parts stolen from it during the overnight hours of 08/22 – 08/23. This case remains under investigation at this time.

On 08/23/15, Macon Police Officers responded to a report of a citizen using an airgun to shoot at an animal at large in the 800 block of Kohl Street. Police made contact with a male subject reporting a female suspect had used an airgun to shoot at the male subject’s dog. Police then made contact with the female suspect who advised the dog was running at large and it happens frequently so she admitting to using the airgun to deter the dog from entering her yard. As a result, police issued a summons to the female suspect, a 63-year old white female, for discharging a firearm/airgun within the city limits. She was released pending a municipal court date. Police also issued a summons the male suspect, a 35-year old white male, for allowing dog to run at large and released him pending a municipal court date.

On 08/23/15, a Macon Police Officer made enforcement contact with a vehicle at the intersection of Lamb/Wabash. As a result, police arrested a 21-year old white male of Macon for driving while license suspended, fail to stop at a stop sign and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was transported to the Macon Police Department for processing and was later released on summons pending a municipal court date.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
