Heroes Wanted

The American Red Cross is asking for your help in awarding six community heroes from Northeast Missouri by way of nominations from community members.

Those wishing to nominate a candidate to receive a “Hero” award are asked to submit a typed description, up to two pages, of why you believe the person you are nominating should receive an award along with a nomination form.

   Nominations must be turned in by 5:00 p.m. on February 28, 2014.

Day of Heroes - American Red Cross

The heroes’ awards categories include:

Education Hero: A person actively engaged in teaching who makes a difference in the lives of students (youth or adult) by inspiring them to reach for their goals and live up to their full potential.

Public Safety Hero: An emergency responder who demonstrates extraordinary dedication and compassion through their work.

Youth Hero: An individual, under the age of 18, who saves a life through rapid response and good judgment or has been trained to respond in emergencies or disasters.

Good Samaritan Hero: An individual over the age of 18, who makes a significant difference in the life of a person(s) or their community through their compassion and thoughtful actions.

Military Hero: A member of the Armed Forces who demonstrates extraordinary dedication and compassion through his or her work. This individual upholds and defends the values and traditions of the United States Armed Forces.

Family Hero: This is an individual who has dedicated themselves to caring for immediate family members and in doing so is improving the family’s quality of life.
