He was born September 8, 1919, at Knox City, MO, the son of Cliff and Sarah Perle Shutts Haselwood.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mildred Glover and Lila Kennedy and his long time companion Peachy Eleanora Jane Tolson December 10, 2009.
Surviving are one daughter Leaetta Irene Magruder and husband Roy of Macon, MO, one grandchild Damon Magruder of Macon, MO, two nephews Donald glover and wife Cynthia of Peoria, IL, Gary Glover of Canton, MO, one niece Janet Watson and husband Ed of Ewing, MO, and several great and great great nieces and nephews.
Lewis received his education in Knox City Schools. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Lewis was engaged in farming many years in the Bee Ridge community. He was also employed at the Lewistown and Kirksville sale barns. He was a member of Knox County Memorial Post # 4822 V.F.W. and Knox City American Legion Post # 358. Lewis was also a member of the Bee Ridge United Methodist Church. Lewis loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He was very pleasant, clever and friendly to all who knew him.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2013, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. The Reverend Sam Smith and Reverend Eddie Troy officiated the services. Burial was held in the Knox City Cemetery. Casket bearers were Joseph Wright, Jr., Albert Wright, Jr., John Edward Wright, Aaron Wright, Earnest Nash, Demetre Hicks and Craig Hicks. Honorary bearers were Felton Enyard, Tremone Minter and Kurtis Hobbs.
Full military honors were held during the services Monday at the funeral home conducted by Knox County Memorial Post # 4822 V.F.W. and Knox City American Legion Post # 358.
