Viola M. Stutsman Rourke Parish, age 98, of Edina, MO died Saturday, December 14, 2013, at her home in Edina.
She was born January 12, 1915, to Louis Albert and Jessie Maud Coffey Stutsman. She attended and graduated from the Edina Public School.
She married Patrick Leo Rourke and to this marriage six children were born. She later married Alva Loyd Parish and to this marriage five children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alva Parish, three sons Freddy Rourke, Stephan Ray parish in infancy, and David Loyd Parish, two daughters Carroll Hoffman and Melissa Jo McGlothlin, three grandsons Terry Rourke in infancy, Kevin Rourke and Brian parish, two son-in-laws Harold Gordon and Bruce Hoffman, two sisters, Catherine Waggener and Helen Bunch and a niece Linda Umono.
Surviving are four sons, Donald Rourke of Parsons, KS, Ronald Rourke and wife Pamela of Vandalia, MO, Glennon Parish and wife Jane of Parsons, KS and Gary Parish, and a son-in-law John McGlothlin of Hurdland, MO, two daughters Velva Steele and husband Clinton of LaPlata, MO, and Phyllis Gordon of Shelbyville, MO and a daughter-in-law Kay Parish of Fayetteville, AK. Also surviving are twenty grandchildren, forty four great grandchildren and twenty-six great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Viola faithfully attended Locust Hill Church and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Since moving to Edina in 1996, she has attended Edina Christian Church. Viola enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning and preserving.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Dewayne Wellborn will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 12 noon till time of services at 2 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
