Verlee Robinson, 73, of Memphis, Missouri died Wednesday night, November 6, 2013, at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis. The daughter of Ora Ivan and Elsie Sweeney Thompson, she was born October 15, 1940 in Scotland County, Missouri.
Verlee was a lifetime resident attending school in Scotland County and graduating in 1957. She married Gerald (Cotton) Robinson on June 1st 1958 at Wyaconda, Missouri and to this union two children were born: Rick and Mike.
She worked many years at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in the kitchen. In the 1980s she opened a thrift shop in the basement of the Coffrins Shoe Store. Later in 2000 she moved to the Northeast corner of the Memphis square and opened and ran Vee’s Thrift until her retirement in 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald “Cotton “Robinson and a brother during infancy.
Survivors include her two sons, Rick Robinson and Mike Robinson, both of Memphis; grandsons, Jash and Chet Robinson; a cousin, Lucille Bundren of Galesburg, Illinois, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the family for their discretion and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.
Graveside Memorial Services were held at the Friendship Cemetery in rural Scotland County on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Inurnment followed the service.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
