He was born February 18, 1982, Quincy, Illinois the son of Wayne Edward and Debra Joan Goodwin Rudd. He was united in marriage to Kimberly Ellen Edwards at Knox City, MO on September 9, 2000 and to this union one daughter was born.
Surviving are his daughter Brittney Leanne Rudd of Knox City, MO, his parents Wayne and Debra Rudd of Knox City, MO, one sister Ashley Simmons and husband Justin of LaBelle, MO, one brother Craig Rudd of Knox City, MO, paternal grandfather James Rudd of Knox City, MO, maternal grandmother Marilyn Goodwin of Knox City, MO, aunts & uncles Terry and Karen Goodwin of Knox City, MO, Mark & Diane Lee of Hannibal, MO, Todd & Lori Goodwin of Knox City, MO, Sheila Goodwin of LaBelle, MO, nieces and nephews Gage Rudd, Clairessa Simmons and Wyatt Simmons. J. R. was preceded in death by his grandmother Gracia Lucille Rudd and his grandfather Raymond Max Goodwin.
J.R. attended schools in Knox County. He was employed in farming and construction. He loved John Deere Tractors, his favorite dog Roscoe (a Bassett Hound) and was an avid NASCAR fan, favorite driver being Jimmy Johnson.
J.R.’s wishes were to be cremated. Visitation was held after 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2013, with family receiving friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Following visitation Thursday evening graveside services were held at the Knox City Cemetery. Officiating at the services was Reverend Mike Wilson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made to an Educational Fund for his daughter Brittney. Contributions may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
