Tragedy Strikes Kahoka Family

Tragedy struck a Kahoka family as their 3-year old child was killed in a one vehicle accident Monday morning, December 31.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Lora Jacobson, 31. of Kahoka was eastbound on Hwy. 136 about three miles west of Wayland when her 2003 Ford Focus left the highway, struck a tree, overturned and came to rest on its wheels in a ditch.

Sawyer E. Jacobson, 3, was pronounced dead at the scene by Clark County Coroner Edwin Wilson.  He had been secured in a child safety seat.

Lora Jacobson, and another son, Lance, age one, each suffered minor injuries and were transported to Hannibal Regional Hospital by Clark County Ambulance.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. Michael Kauth of the Highway Patrol.  Assisting at the scene were the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Clark County Ambulance, Clark County Rescue and the Wayland Fire Department.

It was the 38th fatality accident for Troop B in 2012.
