Neil Benjamin “Benny” Peterson, 69, of Huntsville, died at his home April 24, 2012. He was born November 23, 1942 at the home of his grandma Gertrude Tonnies in Rutledge, Missouri to Pershing Peterson and Wanda Tonnies Peterson. He married Sarah Hess in Moberly on August 26, 1984 and she survives of the home.
Neil was a graduate of Gorin High School. He farmed with his dad and later worked as a heavy equipment operator, traveling extensively due to his work. He was raised in Rutledge, but also lived for a while in Texas and Iowa, and later made his home in Huntsville with his wife Sarah. Neil made a profession of faith to Jesus Christ as a child and was a member of Colony Methodist Church. In his spare time, he loved to fish and hunt.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, a sister Brenda Gooch and brother-in-law Gary Gooch of Rutledge, and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father.
Services were at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Pathway Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Hagar Cemetery in Huntsville.
