Lester Lee Ellis, age 85, of Macon, MO formerly of Newark, MO died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in the Samaritan Hospital in Macon, MO.
He was born November 16, 1926, at Shelbyville, MO, the son of Harry Lee and Pauline Bragg Ellis. On November 17, 1951, at LaBelle, MO he was united in marriage to Mary Lillian Campbell.
Surviving is his wife Mary Lillian Ellis of Macon, MO, one daughter, Julia Ann Dent of Macon, MO, two granddaughters, Nakita Ann Dent of Macon, MO, and Holly Lynn Hicks and husband Eddie of Edina, MO. Lester was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Joan Ellis.
Lester received his education in the LaBelle area where he graduated from High School in 1945. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Lester was employed as Post Master at Newark Post office for several years and employed as a rural mail carrier at Newark, Knox City and LaBelle for several years. Lester enjoyed reading, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Newark Baptist Church the Newark American Legion Post, a past member of the Newark town board and the Newark Fire Department.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Reverend Reese Blaine officiated the services. Burial was in the Newark Cemetery. Casket bearers were Larry McKinney, Joe Don Stout, Jerry Reeves, Jason Violette, Art Simmons and Dwight Pape.
