John E. Brooks, 74 of Edina, Missouri died 1:03 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at his home.
He was born August 6, 1937 in Hunnewell, MO, the son of Raymond R. and Margaret Emily Harp Brooks.
He attended Hunnewell Schools, Hunnewell, MO. He worked for John Deere Harvester in Moline, IL. for 29 years as a mechanist. John enjoyed hunting; going to the gambling boat, visiting with people and his passion was working on cars.
He married Ruth Ann Lilly on May 23, 1959 in Monroe City, MO, she died March 11, 2012.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jodie Mayes and husband Billy of Blue Grass, Iowa; and Jenny Mullanack and husband Rick of Muscatine, Iowa; 2 sons, Joey Brooks and wife Malissa of Spokane, MO; and Jamie Brooks and girlfriend Angel of Buffalo, Iowa; one brother, Everett Brooks and wife Ginger of Hannibal, MO; 1 sister, Adeline Elliott of Stoutsville, MO; half sister, Margaret Gallehar of St. Jose, CA; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, wife, 2 bothers, George and James Brooks; 3 half brothers, Theodore, Arthor and Norton Darner; 1 sister, Dorothy Beaver.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Garner Funeral Chapel, Monroe City, MO. Mr. J.L. Brooks officiated. Burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Hunnewell. Pallbearers were Tyler Brooks, Dustin Brooks, Joseph Brooks, Conner Brooks, Brandon Brooks, Thatcher Mullanack and Garrett Brooks. Honorary Pallbearers were Ashely Weilan, Courtney Mayes, Ivy Rostenback and Avery Brooks.
Memorials are suggested to the John Brooks Family Memorial Fund.Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, MO are in charge of arrangements
