Forest B. Musick



Forest B. Musick, 86 of Kirksville passed away Friday (January 27, 2012) at Boone Hospital in Columbia, MO.


The son of Fred and Alice Marie Davis Lawrence Musick, he was born March 1, 1925 in rural Kirksville. In 1947 Forest married Cleo Lucille Pinkerton and she preceded him in death in 1990. They adopted two children Shelly and John Ray. On November 15, 1991 Forest married Edith Thompson Young Green who survives after 20 years of marriage.


Forest is survived by his children, Shelly Holcomb of Kirksville and John Ray Musick and wife Lynette of Pleasant Valley, MO; four grandchildren, Russell (Denise) Penick, Billy Holcomb, Angel Simonton and Brandon Musick; six great grandchildren, Jacob Penick, Jonathan Zeigler, Travis Zeigler, Ian, Phenix and Delaney Holcomb; four step children, Sue Young Scala and husband David, Nancy Young Peterson, Martha Young Boonyapricha and husband Charlie, and James Donald Young; five step grandchildren, Jason (Jaimee) Scala, Gina Scala (Sean) Martin, James Michael Peterson, Micky and Timothy Boonyapricha; four step great grandchildren, Cole Martin, Collin Peterson, Dalesha Peterson and Trevor Kalsem; and sister-in-law, Pauline Pinkerton.


He was preceded in death by him grandparents, John and Pernina Davis; his parents; sisters, Freda James and Velda Musick; brothers, Hershel and Ernest; uncle, Johnnie Davis and Charlie Davis; aunts, Levell Davis Thompson and Cora Davis Wagy; brothers-in-law, Carl, Basil and Dale Pinkerton.


Forest served in the U.S. Navy from March of 1944 to June of 1946. He worked at the Producers Creamery until it closed and then he worked maintenance at J. Burdman Auto Parts for 3 years.


Forest was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Kirksville. He played in a band in Knox County and played at local nursing homes until his health failed.


Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (January 31, 2012) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral home with Pastor Maynard Blackwood officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.


Pallbearers will be Brian Payne, Terry Mack, Mark Thompson, Don Hilyard, David Young and Shane Hilyard. Honorary bearers will be Herb Payne, Bob Riley and Steve Crockett.


Visitation with the family was Tuesday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
