Since the pouring of the community center’s concrete floor earlier this month several cracks have appeared throughout the surface. The concrete on the southern half of the site, which is where most of the cracks are located, has been specially colored a copper tone and cut to make it look like tile because that section’s concrete will serve as the actual floor. Once the concrete has been treated, buffed and shined it should look like marble tiles. The newly formed cracks throughout that section will no doubt have to be fixed.
According to the community center’s Site Manager, Larry Clark, the cracks will be fixed sooner rather than later.
“They (B&L Concrete) are going to correct the colored floor. They are going to remove it and put in a new one.” Said Clark. “It’s not an easy task, but they realize it’s not right and they’re going to make it right. There are a couple areas on the other side that have cracks and they are going to cut them out and replace them too.”
The community center’s Board of Directors is working to keep construction of the center from falling any further behind. The cracked concrete is scheduled to come up this week and construction of the building is expected to begin, on schedule, next week.
“October 3 the building construction will begin. (Morton Buildings) will at least partially construct the building before (B&L Concrete) puts the floor back in,” said Clark.
