Ronald J. Kurtz, 80, of Fort Madison, IA, died Monday, July 18, 2011 at 1:15 PM at his home.
He was born on October 30, 1930 in Baring, MO to Karl and Anna Delaney Kurtz. On January 23, 1951 he married Joan Vorwerk at St. John’s Church in Burlington. Ron was an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 1989 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Ron loved to play golf, watch the St. Louis Cardinals and go to the KC’s on Wednesday nights to eat chicken.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Kurtz of Ft. Madison; three sons Brad Kurtz of Ft. Madison, Jeff (Debbie) Kurtz of Ft. Madison and Greg (Sue) Kurtz of Bradenton, FL; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Kurtz of Kansas City, MO, his twin brother Donald Kurtz of Phoenix, AZ and Ken Kurtz of Deerfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A Christian Wake service was held at 7 PM Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. David Wilkening officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery.
