Raymond Glenn Rhoades, age 72, of Novelty, MO, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at his home southeast of Novelty.
He was born April 1, 1939, at Epworth, MO, the son of Lee and Minnie Brooks Rhoades. He was united in marriage to Judith Annette Spencer on April 2, 1960, at Novelty, MO.
Surviving are his wife Judith of rural Novelty, MO, three children, Annette Rhoades of Kirksville, MO, Merri Gillespie and husband Dwayne of Gibbs, MO, and Ronald Rhoades and wife Shirley of Novelty, MO, two grandchildren, J.C. Moots and Kayla Moots of Kirksville, MO, one great grandchild, Layton Moots, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mable Mason, one brother, Leroy Rhoades.
Raymond was raised in the Novelty, Missouri area where he received his education graduating from Novelty High School. He was engaged in farming most of his life in the Novelty area. He was employed for fifteen years with the Missouri Highway Department in Novelty, and was employed for eight years at Edina Farm & Home. Raymond enjoyed hunting, cards, woodworking, coaching baseball and softball and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Raymond was a member of the Novelty Christian Church.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Reverend Pau Milliken and Reverend Tim Gilliland officiated the services. Burial was in the Novelty Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jim Simpson, Eugene Parrish, Ronnie Osborn, Ferlin Kimberley, Andy Davis and Bruce Mason. Honorary bearers were Jack Brookhart, Dennis Brookhart, Kenneth Grubb, Paul Echternacht and Minor Tuck.
