Willia Dee Florea, age 91, of Edina, Missouri, died Easter Sunday, the 23rd day of April, 2011, at the LaBelle Manor Care Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past three years.
Dee (as she liked to be called) was born August 9, 1919, in Shelby County, Missouri to Homer J. and Edna (Hall) Runyon.
On October 27, 1941, she married Rollie Northcutt Florea. They had been married 54 years before Rollie passed away on March 9, 1995.
Surviving are a son Ricky Florea and wife Phyllis of Hannibal; two daughters, Peggy Blaine and husband Myron of Hannibal and Vicky Currier and husband Glen of Kirksville; one granddaughter, Robin Hall and husband Travis of Green City, and five grandsons; Ashly Florea and friend Tracy Oehring of New London, Missouri, Bill Blaine and wife Deena of Hannibal, Missouri, Matt Blaine and wife Becky of Blue Springs, Missouri, Brock Griffith and Austin Currier both of Kirksville, Missouri; ten great-grandchildren, Ashton Florea, Christian, Emma, Micah and Levi Blaine, Avery and Kate Blaine, Cameron Griffith, Skylar and Ty Hall; one sister, Verneta Cordis of Port Charlotte, Florida and one brother, John Runyon of LaBelle, Missouri; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, Fern Holbert and Freda Bell Runyon; one brother, Wendell Runyon and one grandson, Roland Northcutt Florea.
Dee and Rollie lived their entire married life in and around the Edina area. She worked at the Burnham Manufacturing Company in Edina for nineteen years. After she retired from the factory she worked at the Edina Library, the Edina Nutrition Site, the Knox County RCF and Knox County Head Start. She was also a volunteer worker for the OATS organization and was volunteer of the year in 2003.
Dee had accepted Christ as her Savior as a teenager and had attended the Baptist Church in Edina, Missouri.
Dee loved riding on the Oats Bus and visiting with all her friends and neighbors. She especially loved being with her precious children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri. Reverend Joe Jorgensen officiated the services. Burial was in the LaBelle Cemetery.
Music was provided by Mike and Pam Blaine. Casket bearers were Gene Holbert, Doug Florea, Jeremy Florea, Gary Patrick, Karen Stone and Carlisle Holbert.
