Ralph Glennon Waggener, age 77, of Edina, Missouri, died Friday, April 22, 2011, in the Knox County Nursing Home at Edina, Missouri.
He was born August 20, 1933, in Knox County, Missouri, the son of Glen Edward and Esther Elizabeth Sweetman Waggener.
Ralph is survived by one sister; Ruth Ann Berberet and husband Bill of Edina, Missouri, one niece Linda Sue Howald and husband Alan of Moberly, Missouri and several cousins.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents.
Ralph received his education in St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Edina High School in 1951. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from June 10, 1953 to June 7, 1956.
Ralph lived his entire life in Knox County where he was engaged in farming and raising cattle. He had also been employed at Edina Sale Barn, Motter’s Hatchery, Doc Green Construction, served as a substitute mail carrier and was a member of the carpenters union in Kirksville where he was employed in heavy construction. Ralph was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed reading, collecting obituaries, raising cattle and visiting with family and friends
A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10 AM Monday, April 25, 2011, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Edina, Missouri. Father Joseph Hoi officiated the services assisted by Reverend Ken Berry. Burial was in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Music was provided by Brent Karhoff, soloist and Nancy Reardon, organist.
Casket bearers were Dr. Robert Collinge, Clay Marshall, Ray Prebe, Gerald Sharp, Kirk Strange and David Hagerla.
