Norma Culler Brownell, age 71 of Hurdland, Missouri, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at her home in Hurdland. She was born December 18, 1939, in Ewing, Missouri, the daughter of Gile Nation and Virginia Bernice Bowen Hatfield.
She was united in marriage to Paul Raymond Culler in 1957 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1973. In 1973 she was united in marriage to William (Bill) Brownell and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2001. Norma was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Leon (Lonnie), Gile (Sonny) and James (Jimmie) Hatfield, three sisters, Jeanette Barnes, Lela Yoakum and Lilly Ann Miller and one nephew, Lyle Jasper Hatfield.
Surviving are three children, Norma Jean (Jeanie) McClanahan and husband Mike of Hurdland, Missouri, Betty Culler Jenkins and husband Ken of Hurdland, Missouri, and Paula Raelene Culler Bascio and husband David of Hurdland, Missouri, three grandchildren, Mandy McClanahan Baird and husband Jeff, Andrew and Austin Walton, two great grandchildren, Michael Dake Bradley and Lexi Baird and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norma was a housewife and homemaker. She received her education in Knox County, Missouri. She had been employed at Knox County Nursing Home, LaBelle Manor, Kirksville Shoe Factory, Edina Glove Factory and Quincy Compressor. She also owned and operated a Hardware Store at Brashear, Missouri. Norma loved horseback riding, motorcycling, bowling, racing cars and playing in a band with her brothers, sisters and mom.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Robert Harrison officiated the services. Burial was in the Hurdland I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Casket bearers were Betty Jenkins, Ken Jenkins, David Bascio, Jolene Campbell, Justin Hatfield and Virgil Hatfield.
Honorary bearers were Mandy Baird, Andrew Walton, Austin Walton and Michael Dake Bradley.
