Governor Jay. Nixon Appoints New Prosecuting Attorneys For Two Northern Missouri Counties
JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed David A. Baird, of Maryville, as the new prosecuting attorney for Worth County; and H. Scott Summers, of Kahoka, as the new prosecuting attorney for Schuyler County; both appointments are effective Jan. 1. Vacancies for those positions would have occurred on Jan. 1 because no candidates for prosecuting attorney appeared on the ballot for the November elections in those counties.
Summers, a Democrat, is the outgoing prosecuting attorney for Clark County, a position he has held since 1987. He has operated a private law practice in Kahoka and also is a licensed title insurance agent in the state of Missouri. Summers received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri; he earned his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law after studies that also included a year at the Saint Louis University Law School.
“David Baird and H. Scott Summers are two highly experienced prosecuting attorneys who have ably served the citizens of their counties for decades, and I am pleased to appoint them to serve the people of Worth County and Schuyler County, respectively,” Gov. Nixon said.
