Kenneth Edward Hagerla, age 90, of Edina, Missouri, died Saturday, December 25, 2010, at his home south of Edina, Missouri.
He was born in Knox County, Missouri, on April 19, 1920, the son of Albert and Bertha Elizabeth Miller Hagerla.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Dee Ward on May 25, 1946, at Moberly, Missouri and she preceded him in death on August 22, 1998. Kenneth was also preceded in death by two brothers; Clifford Hagerla and Richard Hagerla.
Surviving are four children; David Hagerla of Edina, Missouri, Colleen Pease and husband Dennis of Goleta, California, Douglas Hagerla of Edina, Missouri and Barbara Hagerla of Kahoka, two grandchildren, Steven Pease and Elizabeth Pease, one brother-in-law Ray Ward of Quincy, Illinois and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kenneth received his education at Edina Schools. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle on the family farm south of Edina. He, along with his wife, also owned and operated Suburban Farm Supply for over fifty years. Kenneth and Wilma spent their entire married life living and working on the farm on which he was born. He loved spending time with his family and was interested in their lives. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and going to his children’s sports activities. He was a faithful member of the Edina United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Sam Smith will officiate the services. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri. Music will be provided by Nancy Reardon, organist and Brent Karhoff, soloist. Casket bearers will be Albert Hagerla, Kent Hagerla, Jack Reardon, Larry Clark, Mike Ellison, Ray Prebe and Bill Hayes.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010, after 4 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
