Ruth R. Miner, age 92, of LaGrange, Missouri died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton.
She was born May 27, 1918 in Dillion, MT, the daughter of Charles Otis Tarpein and Nellie Rae Strange. She was united in marriage to Stanley Claude Miner August 15, 1936 in Edina, MO. He preceded her in death June 23, 1978.
She was a foster grandparent at LaGrange School and worked at a day care in Canton, MO. She was a member of the Rebecca’s Lodge, Eagles Auxiliary #1800 and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Shouse of Edina, MO, Shelby Dent and husband, Donald, of Jefferson City, MO, Stanley Junior Miner and wife, Charlotte of Donna, TX; brothers, Fred Tarpein and wife, Maxine, of Hannibal, MO, and Lewis Tarpein of Quincy, IL; seven grandchildren, Donnie Dent, Randy Dent, Cherilyn Wearmouth, Michael Shouse, Janene Brown, Dennis Miner, and Laura Scalora; 13 great-grandchildren, Randal Dent, Jason Dent, Sarah Dent, Dennis Dent, Amy Dent, Emily Dent, Jason Scalora, Cassandra Scalora, Carrie Geiser, Michele Hendrian, Christina Shouse, Christopher Wearmouth, and Katherine Wearmouth; and seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margie Tarpein and Mabel Tarpein and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, Noel, Benjamin, Ernest and James; three sisters, Mary Jane Tarpein, Louise Dodd and Evelyn Ketterman; and two grandchildren James and Ruth Ann Shouse.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange, Missouri with Pastor Jeff Serafin officiating. Burial was in Knox City, Missouri. Pallbearers were Scott Wearmouth, Randall Dent Jr., Jason Dent, Dennis Miner, Christopher Wearmouth and Dennis Dent. Honorary Pallbearers were Joe Johnson, Paul Guilfoyle and Curtis Farr.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Knox City Cemetery in care of Davis Funeral Home, LaGrange, MO.
