Charles Vernon Florea, age 77, of LaBelle, Missouri, died Saturday, October 9, 2010, at his home in LaBelle.
A son of Coil Franklin and Essie Grace Byers Florea, Charles was born April 21, 1933 near LaBelle, Missouri.
Charles was united in marriage to Mary Esther Steffen on July 12, 1952, at Hannibal, Missouri. To their union, five children, Charles William, Emilie Ann, Timothy Coil, Paula Kay and Chester Allen were born.
Following graduation from LaBelle High School, Charles spent the next 60 years on the road as a truck driver. He was most recently employed by Heartland Dairy of LaBelle, Missouri. Charles was a member of the First Christian Church of LaBelle. Other memberships included devoted service to the youth of Lewis County as a member and president of the C-1 School Board, PTA President, past member and president of LaBelle Saddle Club, was a volunteer fireman and a member in good standing of International Teamsters Local 21 since 1961.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Esther; and their children, Chuck (Linda) Florea of Durham, Missouri, Emilie Rumble of LaBelle, Missouri, Tim Florea (Wanda) Fort Madison, Iowa, Paula (Francis) Esposito of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Chet (Leanne) Florea of Philadelphia, Missouri; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jeremy (Stacy) Florea, and children, Autumn Renee and Hunter John; Kendra (Paul) Scifres and children, Camden Anthony, Carli Alizabeth, Ava Rose and Aspen Kayleigh; Heather Clary and children, Ethan Daniel and Shane William; Erin Florea, Dustin Speer, Nikki (Brant) Hargraves, Kristen (Krishan) Berry and son Keshav, Terrance (fiancée Tina and son Caden); Miranda, Drew and Frank Esposito Jr.; Ray Romero; Shelby and Stetson Marinaro; and Samantha Millman; siblings, Coil Leonard Florea of LaBelle, Lillie (Wendell) Kurtz of Edina and George Dale (Diana) Florea of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; and brother-in-law, William Curtis (Helen Lee) Steffen of LaBelle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, William Henry and Rosa Lee Edmonston Steffen; and siblings, Darlene Stice, Louella Anderson and Betty Simpson Krebs.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri.
Pastor Joe Jorgensen will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Steffenville Cemetery.
Music will be provided by Evelyn Scifres, Billie Miller and Camden Scifres.
Casket bearers will be Jeremy Florea, Paul Scifres, Dustin Speer, Brant Hargraves, Krishan Berry, Terrance Florea, Ray Romero, Stetson Marinaro and Drew Esposito.
Visitation will be held Tuesday October 12, 2010, after 4 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Missouri.
