LYDIA M. BARNHOUSE

Lydia Maurine Minor Barnhouse, age 105, of Marceline Missouri died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center, Marceline. Lydia was born at Newark, MO on January 21, 1905 to Beverly and Elizabeth (Anderson) Minor she married Dan Barnhouse on December 27, 1929 and he proceeded her in death.


Lydia was a retired schoolteacher. She graduated in 1929 from Northeast State Teacher’s College and taught at Aledo, IL, Plevna, MO, and East Park in Moberly. She will be remembered as “Aunt Cissy” by her many nieces and nephews and as Mrs. B. by her students and friends. She was member of Delta Kappa Gamma, State and National Retired Teacher’s Association, Retired Teachers of Randolph and Andrew counties, First Baptist Church in Moberly, Cap Corma Class and WMU of the church in Moberly as well as a Sunday School teacher, Modern Seekers Study Club, Claudia Sherer Mission Group, and American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 6 at Moberly, and fellowship and Brookfield Bible Chapel.


She is survived by nieces and nephews, Jeanne Lowe, Marceline, MO; Barbara Baker, Klamath Falls, OR; Terry Minor, New Braunfels, TX; Dion Minor, Hannibal, MO; Ron Minor, Auxvasse, MO; Pat Minor, Quincy, IL; Dwayne Minor, Rockway Beach, MO; Dan Minor, Hannibal, MO; Cindy Beets, Ozark, MO; and Cathy Brumitt, Grape Garden, MO; sister-in-law Helen Minor, Columbia, MO; and by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dan, five brothers, Lilburn, Leon, James, Carl, and Paul Minor, two nephews, Jimmie Allen Minor and Mark Minor, and Niece Tisha Minor.


Funeral service was Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Delaney Funeral Home in Marcelene with Mr. David Hortenstein officiating. Burial was at 3:00 pm at Oakland Cemetery in Moberly on Saturday. Pallbearers were Dan, John, Dick and Ron Minor, Tom Brumitt, and Jim Lippleman. The family suggests memorials may made to the Randoph County Retired Teachers Organization; Scholarship at First Baptist Church, Moberly; Activity Fund at Pioneer Health Center; or Story Book Lodge Christian Camp and these may be left at or mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N.
