Charles William “Shorty” Bill Little, age 75, of rural Edina, Missouri, died Friday, August 6, 2010, in Quincy, Illinois.
He was born January 2, 1935, in Knox County, Missouri, the son of Ellis Lee and Irene Grace Eyler Little.
He is survived by his devoted companion Dee Gray of Edina, Missouri, two children, Charles William Little Jr. and wife Rita of Lima, Illinois, Candace Sue Mowen and husband Tom of Plainville, Illinois, one sister, Evelyn Little Althoff of Quincy, Illinois, two grandchildren, Charles William Little III and Regan Lois Little, and several cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and infant brother Kenneth James Little.
Bill was raised in Knox County where he received his education graduating from Baring High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and also during the Cuban Crisis. He was employed for thirty-six years with Harris Broadcast and moved back to Edina after his retirement. Bill was a member of the Harris Broadcast Century Club, the Quincy Eagles Club and NRA. Bill enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, his machine shop and spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Sam Smith will officiate the services. Burial with full Military Honors will be in the Linville Cemetery. Music will be provided by Brent Karhoff, soloist and Carol Hayes, organist. Casket bearers will be Arnold Tournear, Dennis Goodwin, Candi Mowen, Tom Mowen, Terry Shumate and Jim Gibbons. Honorary bearers will be Dwain Perrigo, Virgil Doss, David Doss, Mike Lawson, Richard Witherow, and Ray Hasenjaeger.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
