West Coast Cyclists Travel Through Kahoka

David Lawson, 26 and brother Eric, age 20, were traveling through Kahoka on Thursday, May 27 by bicycles, when they decided to stop at Talk of the Town for lunch. David lives in California, and Eric lives in Portland, Oregon. The brothers had saved their money for two years in order to take this 15 week cycling trip.

When enough money was saved, the men quit their jobs and headed out. The two met up in Omaha, Nebraska and traveled toward Iowa, passing through Knoxville, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa and Keosauqua, then to Kahoka, which took 4 days. Due to the storms in the area, the young men stayed in motels most of the time, but do plan on doing some camping.

The brothers chose this area for their cycling trip because it would take them to places that they hadn’t seen before. From Kahoka they are headed to Canton, where they will spend the night, and then on to Hannibal, to see the home of Mark Twain, and then to St. Louis, which they are very excited about seeing. The trip will end in Boston, MA. David remarked that while traveling through Montana he had ran into a snow storm, but people all along the trip have been very gracious and helpful to the young men. They mentioned that they particularly enjoyed seeing the Badlands.
