Viola Frances Prebe, age 80, of rural Edina, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010, at her home southeast of Edina, Missouri.
She was born March 19, 1930, in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Walter R. and Pern Viola Martin Brown.
She was united in marriage to E. Ray Prebe on April 15, 1947, at Kirksville, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband E. Ray Prebe of Edina, Missouri, three daughters, Mary Anne Nieders and husband Randy of Chesterfield, Missouri, Jeanie James and husband Randy of Brashear, Missouri, Chrissy Pattison and her fiancé Terry Kiley of Columbia, Missouri, a daughter-in-law Sheree Prebe of Edina, Missouri, fourteen grandchildren, Shelia Whitney and husband Chad, Tommy Prebe and wife Crissie, Dax Nieders and wife Lindsey, Andrea Kasle and husband Sam, Jonathan Ryan Prebe, Michael Lee Prebe, Jessica Rae Prebe, Christopher James, Shelli Franke and husband Brent, Cody James, Amanda Mullenix, Allison Mulholland and husband Greg, William Pattison, Kathy Pattison, seventeen great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Bebe Ann Rimer of Edina, Missouri and Ruth Brandt and husband Joe of Lake Ozark, Missouri, one brother-in-law, Gary Guinan and wife Donna of Antiock, Tennessee, several nieces, nephews and several cousins including Elmer Brown and wife Essie of Edina, Missouri.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Edward Ray and John Walter Prebe and one sister and brother-in-law, Norbert and Kathy Killday, brother-in-law A.G. Rimer.
Viola was raised in Knox County, Missouri where she received her education graduating from the Edina High School. She was a housewife and homemaker. She and her husband were engaged in farming southeast of Edina where they have resided for the past sixty three years.
Viola enjoyed being outdoors, tending her flowers and garden, always keeping her eye out for arrowheads and four leaf clovers. When inside, she kept herself busy, cooking and canning. She loved quilting and her family, all are proud recipients of her beautiful handy work. She was an avid reader and cross word puzzle worker but her greatest joy was caring for her family, lending an ear, and offering gentle words of encouragement.
She will be remembered for her kindness and sweet humble spirit. A best friend to many, and sadly missed by all who knew her. Viola was a fifty-year member of Matilda Chapter # 411 Order of The Eastern Star at Edina and a member of the Edina First Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home at Edina, Missouri. Reverend Dewayne Wellborn will officiate the services, with Steve Miller assisting.
Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens at Kirksville, Missouri.
Musical selections will be “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Remember When”.
Casket bearers will be: Christopher James, Dax Nieders, Tommy Prebe, Jonathan Prebe, Michael Prebe, William Pattison, Cody James.
Honorary bearers will be: Don Woodward, Weldon Ray Woodward, Mike Peters, Albert Hagerla, Kevin Strange, Lynn Douglas, Clinton Kline.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home at Edina, Missouri.
