Helen Louise Parrish, age 67, of Memphis, Missouri, formerly of Baring, Missouri, died Sunday, February 7, 2010, in the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri.
She was born August 16, 1942, in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Millard Clifton and Opal Irene Weaver Goodwin.
On May 25, 1961, she was united in marriage to Donald Ray Parrish and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are seven children, Stevie Ray Parrish and wife Nita of Kirksville, Missouri, Ronald Ray Parrish and wife Reta of Kirksville, Missouri, Larry E. Parrish of Gorin, Missouri, Phyllis Mallett and husband Kent of Memphis, Missouri, Brenda McVicker and husband Rick of Bevier, Missouri, Donna Parrish of Memphis, Missouri, and Jennifer Alexander and husband Troy of Memphis, Missouri, two sisters Rita Glasgow of Edina, Missouri, and Goldie Kelly and husband Richard of Granbury, Texas, grandchildren, Barbie Hays and husband Michael, Colissa and Courtney Parrish, Darin Parrish and wife Amanda, Lathon Sayers, Chris Mallett and friend Autumn, Leslie Mallett, Kisha Maxwell and husband Beau, Deanna Rowland and husband Ben, Briana, Joey, Katie, and Brenden Walsh, Keely Johnson, Haven Stoddard, Tanner, Jansen and Bristol Alexander, Wendy Erickson and husband Justin, Aaron McVicker and wife Jamie, Chelsey and Devin McVicker, great grandchildren, Kellen and Kennedy Parrish, Kelsey Shultz, Lance Hudson, Barrett Maxwell, Baby Boy Rowland, Gage, Leah, and Parker Erickson, Chezney and Jace McVicker, Simon McVicker, Isaiah, Elijah and Gabriel Hernandez, a great grandson on the way and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was raised in Knox County where she received her education graduating from the Edina High School. Helen had been employed as a cook at the Baring Elementary School, a cook at the Edina Country Club, had been employed at the Blue Room in Edina, and was employed at Scotland County Care Center in Memphis as a CNA until her retirement in 2006. Helen enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Carol Davenport and Rick McVicker officiated the services. Burial was in Park View Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were grandsons, Darin Parrish, Chris Mallett, Joey Walsh, Brendon Walsh, Tanner Alexander, Ben Rowland, Beau Maxwell, Aaron McVicker and Lathon Sayer.
Honorary bearers were Dwayne Perrigo, Hardin Harrington, Jack Little, David Poston, Richard Clark, and Bucky Bowen.
