RUTH G. MCKENZIE

Ruth Gertrude McKenzie, age 103 of Quincy, Illinois, died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Sunset Home in Quincy, Illinois.
Ruth Gertrude Anderson was born in Knox County, Missouri August 25, 1906, the daughter of Benjamin and Louise Maria Klocke Anderson.
She moved with her parents to the state of Kansas at the age of six years. She was educated in Kansas and graduated from Blue Mound, Kansas High School with the class of 1924. She attended Kansas State Teacher’s College in Pittsburgh, Kansas, receiving a Life Time Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education.
On August 22, 1928, in Kincade, Kansas, she married Earl Tate McKenzie who preceded her in death on February 3, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Theodore and William Anderson, two sisters, Louise Goodin, and Hazel Bickel, and a son-in-law Roland J. McAnulty.
Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth McAnulty Schutte and husband Russell of Quincy, Illinois and Mrs. JoAnn Prather and husband Hillis of Knox City, Missouri, grandchildren, Stephen McAnulty of Quincy, Illinois, Linda McAnulty Schutte of Chatham, Illinois, Alan Schutte of Chatham, Illinois, Mrs. Deborah Wolgast and husband Wayne of Eudora, Kansas and Dale Prather and wife Christine of Knox City, Missouri, three great granddaughters, Mrs. Amanda Patridge and husband Josh of Chatham, Illinois, Jennifer Wilkins of Kansas City, Kansas, and Olivia Prather of Knox City, Missouri, three great grandsons, Christopher Wilkins of Eudora, Kansas, Colin and Austin Schutte of Chatham, Illinois; one great great granddaughter, Carly Patridge of Chatham, Illinois and one great great grandson, Casey Patridge of Chatham, Illinois, and two sisters, Viola Dent and Helen Edwards, both of Manor Care at LaBelle, Missouri.
Ruth was an active member of the Bee Ridge Methodist Church, took part in her Extension Club Activities and was a 4H leader. She and her husband loved to bowl. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held at 2 PM Sunday, February 7, 2010, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home at Edina, Missouri. Reverend Hillis Prather officiated the services.
Burial was in the Bee Ridge Cemetery, southeast of Edina, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Billy Anderson, Gary Waite, Sherwin Dent, James Dent, Clement Goodin, Junior McKenzie, Mark Klocke and Merle Klocke.
