Dorothy Marie Edwards, age 72, of Knox City, Missouri, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at Country Aire Retirements Estates in Lewistown, Missouri.
She was born February 5, 1937, in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Sterling Elmer and Hazel Maurita Anderson Hubble.
On December 17, 1955, at Knox City, Missouri she was united in marriage to Kenneth Jean Edwards and he preceded her in death on November 8, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Jeremiah Rathbun, one step-great grandchild, one brother Paul Hubble, a sister-in-law Barbara Hubble and one niece Bonnie Hubble.
Surviving are three children, Kenneth Michael Edwards and wife Tina of Knox City, Missouri, Sharon Marie Rathbun and husband Mark of Maywood, Missouri, and Deborah Lynn Roush and husband Henry of Knox City, Missouri, one brother Larry Hubble and wife Sharlee of Knox City, Missouri, four grandchildren, Rebecca and Christopher Edwards, Julianna Rathbun and friend Billy Baker, Jonathan Rathbun, two step-grandchildren, Paula M. and Joseph Roush, seven step-great grandchildren, one brother-in-law Robert Edwards of Knox City, Missouri and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was raised in Knox County where she received her education in Antioch rural school and graduated from Knox City High School in 1955. She and her husband resided on a farm North of Knox City, Missouri. She had been employed at LaBelle MFA several years, secretary and treasure at Knox City Assembly of God Church, decorated cakes for several years, and played the piano and accordion at church. She also drove a school bus for Knox County Schools for over 30 years.
Dorothy enjoyed quilting, gardening, music and spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Officiating the services was Brother Mike Rash, assisted by Brother Elmer Hagood. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery northeast of Edina, Missouri. Casket bearers were J.V. Norton, Rick Hubble, Mark Cardwell, Donnie Hubble, Robert Hubble, Larry Edwards and Joe Myers.
Honorary bearers were current and past Knox County school bus drivers.
Visitation was Wednesday, November 11, 2009, after 4 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
