Richard M. "Dick" Wilson, age 79, of Kahoka, MO, died Monday, September 14, 2009 at his home.
He was born December 3, 1929, near Athens in rural Clark. Co., MO, a son of Melvin and Hazel Killdoo Wilson.
He married Joan Stansbury and they were the parents of four children.
Survivors include two sons, Duane Wilson and his wife, Ellen, of Revere, MO, and Willie Wilson and his wife, Julie, of Lacona, IA; two daughters, Vicki Wilson and her life partner, Paula Whitaker, of Raleigh, NC and Cindy LeMaster of St. Francisville, MO; two brothers, Ronald Wilson and his wife, Joan, of Overland Park, KS and Robert Wilson and his wife, Joanie, of Starkville, MS; one sister, Dorothy Ricketts of Little York, IL; six grandchildren: A. J. LeMaster of Kahoka, Mo, Jenny Wilson and Megan Wilson of Revere, MO, and, Jennifer Miller, Travis Miller and Alyssa Wilson, all of Lacona, IA; two great-grandchildren, Jewel Hopp and Wyatt Wagner of Kahoka, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Wilbur Ricketts.
Richard graduated from Revere High School in 1948. He farmed all of his life on the family farm located in the Anson Community until his retirement. He then drove school buses for Revere, Harmony, and Clark Co. and truly enjoyed the interaction with children on his routes.
He was a former member of the Athens Park Association and the Anson Church Board. He was a faithful member of the Farmington "Wednesday Night Supper Club" and appreciated spending time with his friends there. Farming was in his blood from the moment he was born and his roots were anchored in patience, faith and hope as he planted and harvested to provide for his family. His true happiness in life were his children, grandchildren and extended family.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 17, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Barb Hagerla officiating. Special music was recordings "Me and God", "The Old Rugged Cross", and, "In the Garden".
Honorary pallbearers were Wyatt Wagner, Jewel Hopp, Alyssa Wilson, Jennifer Miller and Travis Miller.
Pallbearers were A. J. LeMaster, Jenny Wilson, Megan Wilson, David Saunders, John Roberts and John Oilar.
Burial was in the Anson Cemetery.
Visitation was held at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials were suggested to the Anson Cemetery.
