Mary Rachel Brenizer, age 90, of Novelty, Missouri, died Thursday, August 27, 2009, at the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, Missouri.
She was born August 27, 1919, in Chariton County, Missouri, the daughter of James Isaac and Betty Mae Phelps Smith.
On February 5, 1939, at Novelty, Missouri she was united in marriage to Perley Francis Brenizer and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1999.
Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James smith, two sisters, Jean Young and Edris McCloud.
Surviving are four children Perley Eugene Brenizer and wife Marjorie of Novelty, Missouri, Mary Jane Hamlin and husband Tom of Novelty, Missouri, Margaret Elaine Hamlin of Osage Beach, Missouri and James Lynn (J.L.) Brenizer and wife Belinda of Edina, Missouri, eight grandchildren Lisa and Walter Spilker, Shelly and Chris Moubry, Rob and Karina Hamlin, Roger and Amanda Hamlin, Cara and Kevin Buckhaulter, Gina and Jody Hall, chase and Clarissa Brenizer and Nick Brenizer, eleven great grandchildren, Ethan and Zach Spilker, Brody and Cory Moubry, Andrea and Luisa Hamlin, Peyton Hamlin, Tristan and Andre Buckhaulter, Timmy Sears, Kayla Hall, one brother-in-law Victor Brenizer, one sister-in-law Pauline Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was a housewife and homemaker she and her husband lived in the Locust Hill area where they were engaged in farming. She was a member of the Locust Hill Community church where she taught Sunday School Class, served as secretary/treasurer of the church, sang in the church choir and an active part in all of Locust Hill’s community functions.
She enjoyed fishing, cooking, canning, sewing, quilting and needlework of all kinds and has left many beautiful quilts for the children and grandchildren to enjoy for many years. She has won Blue Ribbon in the Knox County Corn Fest Quilt Show.
Serving her family and friends was what made her the happiest. All the extended family members knew they were welcome in her home at any time.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2009, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri. Reverend Bill Gaines and Reverend Reese Blaine officiated the services. Music was provided by Audrey Hamlin, Kyane Marble and Ed Anderson. Burial was in the Locust Hill Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Walter Spilker, Chris Moubry, Rob Hamlin, Roger Hamlin, Kevin Buckhaulter, Jody Hall, Chase Brenizer and Nick Brenizer.
