Lewis County REC 72nd Annual Meeting Has Record Attendance
The members of the Lewis County Rural Electric Cooperative gathered for an evening meeting under the big top tent on the Clark County Fair Grounds on August 6, 2009 to celebrate the 72nd Annual Meeting. Emery Geisendorfer Jr., President of the Board of Directors, called the meeting to order. John Bloom, General Manager/CEO reported that Lewis County REC is in very sound financial condition. He also reported on the challenges that the electric industry will face in the near future, and presented employees and directors with pins for their years of service.
Representative Brian Munzlinger was present to update members on legislation at hand.
There were 362 members registered to vote and over 1200 people were served dinner. The members elected three directors to serve a 3 year term to expire in 2012. Elected to the board were Harold Harper, Kahoka, Emery (Buster) Geisendorfer Jr., LaGrange, and Ned Daggs, Ewing.
The Mystery Train Band performed and there were free children’s games. Attendance prizes were given and there were other drawings for prizes throughout the evening. The grand prize winner of a $400 energy certificate was Susanne Webster, and the child’s grand prize, an electric go cart, was won by Evan Cameron. The youngest person in attendance was Jonathan Schmitz 6 months and the oldest was Mildred Raleigh 103. Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Swisher received the prize for being married the longest, 66 years.
