Virginia Mae Morse-Baker (nee Buswell), 79, of Shawnee, Kansas, died peacefully July 12, 2009, surrounded by friends and family.
Virginia Mae was born July 20, 1929, in Knox County, near Newark, Missouri. She was the youngest of 12 sons and daughter of George Otis Buswell and Ocie Viola Wright.
Virginia met Arthur Rockwell Morse, Jr. during her employment at a small candy store in Quincy, Illinois and married him October 15, 1949. The couple eventually settled in the Kansas City area.
Several years after Arthur’s passing in 1971, Virginia met and later married Charles Marion Baker originally of Hennesey, OK.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings: Edgar, Sylvia, Jennings, Maureen, Earl, Wayne, Estelle, Kenneth, Harold, Junior and Geneva, her husband Arthur, and her husband Charles.
Virginia is survived by her daughter Karen Sue McGinnis and husband Tim, her son Marty Morse, her step-daughter Eddie Gayle Sartin, and her grandchildren Nicki, TJ and Kori McGinnis, Megan Morse, and Chad Clark and Kimberly Wood.
Her family and friends will forever revere her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and remember fondly her love of cooking.
Memorial services will be held on 16 July 2009 at D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210 at 1:30PM, with interment immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society and Hospice Care of Kansas, 15329 W. 95th Street, Lenexa, KS 66219.
