Lorence “Larry” Albert Mutchler, 70, of Fort Madison, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, as a result of an accident on Highway U.S. 61.
Born May 18, 1939, in Edina, MO, he was the son of John Albert Mutchler and Mabel Lorayne Snell. On August 21, 1957, he married Jeanette Bartlett in Burlington.
Mr. Mutchler was a truck driver for Ron Wooldridge Trucking. He had previously operated heavy equipment at Des Moines County secondary roads for 24 years. He also owned and operated L&M Karaoke.
He was of the Protestant faith. He attended Burlington High School. He was a member of the Moose, Eagles, and NRA. He was also a member and Union Steward with A.F.S.C.M.E. Local 2205. He had played base guitar at a young age in local bands. Throughout his life, he continued to learn and fix all types of equipment, even the computer and internet. He enjoyed gunsmithing, working with leather, crafting wood, singing karaoke, and playing pool.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette of Fort Madison; one son, Kenny Mutchler of Danville; two daughters, Debbie (John) Johnson of West Burlington, and Carolyn (Craig) Calloway of Middletown; nine grandchildren, Melenie, Chad, Michelle, Michael, Matthew, Catherine, Christopher, Cynthia and Amber; six great-grandchildren, Braeydon, Mckael, Elija, Alton, Hayden, and Madeline; one sister, Francis Fenton of Burlington; nieces; nephews; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Grandparents were Fred and Rebecca Stutsman Mutchler.
Services for Larry Mutchler were held Tuesday, May 26 at the Prugh’s Chapel in Burlington, Iowa, with Rev. Jim McDowell officiating.
A memorial has been established in his name.
