Willa Viola (Golden) Fleak, 93, of Kirksville, Missouri, died Sunday (April 26, 2009) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
Born July 10, 1915 in Hurdland, Missouri, Willa was the daughter of Herman and Mary Ides (Durall) Golden. On August 6, 1939 in Edina, Missouri, Willa was united in marriage to Joseph Leroy Fleak who preceded her in death on December 4, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Tommy and Deborah Fleak.
Willa is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Sharon Fleak of Kirksville, MO, Robert and Linda Fleak of Shelbyville, MO, and Alex Fleak of Kirksville, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Larry Fetters of Muscatine, IA; one sister, Pauline Fowler of Gladstone, MO; six grandchildren, Mary Perrin, Cathy Fleak, Chris Fleak, John Fetters, David Fetters and Robert Fleak as well as five great-grandchildren, Austin Perrin, Zachary Fleak, Andrew Fleak, Benjamin Fetters and Rachel Fetters.
Willa resided most of her life in Hurdland, Missouri, was a graduate from the Hurdland High School and attended college at Hannibal LaGrange. Right out of college, she taught school a few years until getting married in 1939. At that time she became a stay at home mother and raised her family. In 1995, Willa moved to Kirksville, Missouri, to make her home.
She enjoyed working, crocheting, embroidering, canning, cooking and baking.
Willa was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Edina.
Graveside services under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (April 28, 2009) at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Edina, with Father Chris Cordes presiding. Pallbearers were Robert Fleak, Chris Fleak, John Fetters, David Fetters, Jeff Perrin and Kevin Hemenway.
