“Stan” Marquette, 61, of Ottumwa, Iowa, died Saturday afternoon, March 21, 2009, at his home in Ottumwa, after an illness.
The oldest son of Kenneth and Mary Schuck Marquette, he was born July 30, 1947, at the Grim Smith Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri.
Stan graduated from, Memphis High School in 1965. Then he attended the University of Missouri at Columbia for one year. He later graduated from Bailey’s School of Electronics that he attended in St. Louis, MO, pursuing a career in that field.
He was a veteran in the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War. After serving in the Army, Stanley went into the electronics business. He started Marquette Auto Sound and in 2009 he celebrated 35 years of operating the business.
Stanley’s special hobby was a 40-acre tree farm which he planted and cared for. It grew beautifully and it meant a lot to him.
Stan is survived by his mother Mary Marquette of Memphis, MO; one brother, Kenneth Neil Marquette of Ottumwa, IA; his aunt Erma and Charles Kelly; friend Gail Brown; and a host of other friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Marquette in February of 2007.
