Christina M. Wood
Christina M. Wood, 88, of
rural Farmington, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at the Fort
Madison Community Hospital.
She was born May 31, 1920, at
Laingsburg, Michigan, the daughter of Louis V. and Gladys Post Jorae. On August
21, 1939, at Laingsburg, Michigan, she married Dale E. Wood. He preceded her in
death on April 12, 1990.
Survivors include one son David
E. (Cheryl) Wood of Farmington, three daughters Julia A. (Joe) Matheney of
Keokuk, Iowa, Janet I. (Don) Klasing of Emporia, Kansas, Nancy C. (Rich) Ballew
of Donnellson, Iowa, eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one brother
Joseph (Nancy) Jorae of Ovid, Michigan, and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband, one grandson Ricky Wood, two sisters, and two brothers.
Christina was a member of St.
Boniface Catholic Church, and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church. She
and her husband owned and operated the Woods Station in rural Farmington for 52
years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, working in her store, traveling, crossword
puzzles and being with her family.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19,
2009, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home and Crematory in Farmington, where the
family will meet with friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at
7:00 p.m. that evening.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
March 20, 2009, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington with Father
Apo T. Mpanda as Celebrant.
Burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St.
Boniface Catholic Church or the Farmington EMT’s.
