 Knox County Powers Past Brashear Girls

Third seeded Knox County exploded for a 23-4 third quarter run in January 19, first round North Shelby Tournament first round girls’ action and moved on to a championship semi-final date with Scotland County by virtue of a 55-23 win over Brashear.

The Lady Eagles evened their overall record at 6-6 while Brashear fell to 3-8 on the season. Knox County’s ball pressure defense forced 31 turnovers. The Lady Eagles recorded 22 team steals.

Knox County led 14-6 after one quarter and 25-14 at the half. Lady Eagle defense was good enough to overcome a 7-12 (58%) performance at the free throw line. Brashear sank one of three free throws on the night.

Shelby Rogers led Brashear with 13 points. Abby McKim and Emily Ladwig scored four points each. Macy Rogers added two BHS points.

Tessa Ramer tossed in a game high 14 Knox County points. Lorrie Peters was in double figures with ten points. Katie Ausmus scored nine KCHS points along with six steals and four assists.

Stacey Leckbee fired in nine Knox County points. The two year starting sophomore guard stole the ball seven times, dished out seven assists and pulled down five boards.

Amanda Woods and Myra Parrish scored four points each. Parrish recorded three KCHS steals. Amber Ausmus scored five second half points.
