William “Bill” Bartz, age 78, of LaBelle, MO, died Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, MO.
He was born February 8, 1930, at Dublin, IA, the son of Charles and Etta Doran Bartz.
On October 1, 1955, at Pittsfield, IL he was united in marriage to Maxine Lucille Spann and she preceded him in death on June 24, 2008. Bill was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and Eugene Bartz, five sisters, Virginia Kaylor, Mary Weikert, Evelyn Henson, Helen Sly and Donna Miller.
Surviving are Benny Kaylor and wife Billie of LaBelle, MO, who was raised in the home and their children, Brad, Brian and Brent Kaylor, and Rose Sparks and husband Steve of Ewing, MO, three brothers, Robert Bartz of LaGrange, MO, Clarence Bartz of Maywood, MO, John Bartz of Tolona, MO, four sisters, Margarite Helfrich of Ewing, MO, Dorothy Waters of Taylor, MO, Janie Smith and husband Billy Joe of Taylor, MO and Darlene Bartz of Kirksville, MO, one brother-in-law, Charles Sly of Ewing, MO, one sister-in-law, Velta Bartz of LaGrange, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was raised in Iowa until the age of fourteen when he moved with his parents to Missouri in a covered wagon. He has since made his home in Lewistown and LaBelle, MO area. He owned and operated Bartz Auto Parts, starting his business in Lewistown, MO and later moving the business to LaBelle. Bill was a member of the LaBelle Masonic Lodge #222 A.F. & A.M. In his past time Bill enjoyed restoring Antique Tractors.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009, at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Reverend Charles Sharpe officiated the services.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO. Masonic services were at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the chapel.
