Larry Leon Wilson, 67, of Farmington, passed away at 3:45 A.M. Monday, December 22, 2008, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, Missouri.

Born February 24, 1941, near Farmington, Iowa, the son of Esten and Thelma Brewster Wilson.

Survivors include one sister Lois (Walt) Walz of Donnellson, Iowa, one brother Leland Wilson of Cameron, Missouri, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry was a graduate of Farmington High School. He attended the University of Missouri, and later the University of Illinois, where he received his doctorate degree. He also enlisted in the Peace Corps, where he served in Laos and in Thailand. Larry later returned to rural Farmington to the family farm, where he raised Angus cattle. He was a member of the Anson Community Church. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and the 4-H livestock program. When he was younger he participated in 4-H activities, particularly showing cattle. In his later years he enjoyed helping younger people with those same activities.

Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Farmington, where the family will meet with friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Farmington with Reverend Ken Goyer officiating.

Burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blessing Hospice of Hancock County or the Farmington EMT’s.
