North Shelby drew the first seed in the Class 1, District 9 softball tournament scheduled for October 8-11 at LaPlata. Canton was seeded second followed by Brashear (13-4), LaPlata, Novinger, Marion County and Atlanta.

Three games are slated for Wednesday evening. LaPlata challenges Novinger at 5PM. Canton and Atlanta take the diamond at 6:15PM followed by third seeded Brashear and Marion County.

The LaPlata district championship game is scheduled for Saturday, October 11 at noon. The winner of District 9 will likely face Bevier in the Chillicothe Sectional, slated for Wednesday, October 15. If the District 9 winner advances past the Sectional round, they will return to Chillicothe for the Class 1 quarterfinals on Saturday, October 18.
The MSHSAA Softball Championships have been moved to St. Joseph, Mo at the Heritage Park. Semi-final action on the District 9 side of the bracket starts at noon on Friday, October 24 with the championship and third place games the next day.
